Community / support / iOS: unable to add iCloud folder as local folder for sync

Hi there, I’ve got the latest version of your app installed on the latest version of iOS. Earlier today I was able to synchronize, I.e. copy, from a local folder in iCloud to a crypt in Google Drive. For whatever reason the sync view then later complained about a “missing local path” or directory. Removing the sync job and trying to recreate it doesn’t work as now the sync job creation view simply doesn’t take the iCloud location anymore. The view remains unchanged when tapping “Open” in the iCloud location of interest. Deleting and reinstalling your app hasn’t helped. What do I do?

Checking the logs I see this when trying to add that folder as local path #0 Error: DirectoryNotFoundException: Directory does not exist: /private/var/mobile/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/DIRECTORYNAME ??:?? (??:??) ??:?? (??:??) ??:?? (??:??) DIRECTORYNAME is set to keep downloaded in Files so it’s available fully locally. Again, weirdly all of this already worked earlier.

Hi @qawsedrftgyhujvfcd, By any chance, can you try latest version and see if it helped?

Wow thanks for releasing an update so quickly. Unfortunately this doesn’t fix the issue for me. I now see the following (with debug logs activated): #0 Error: DirectoryNotFoundException: Directory does not exist: /private/var/mobile/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/MYFOLDER; pid: 21914, tid: 8281268672, name io.flutter.1.ui os: ios arch: arm64 comp: no sim: no build_id: '079db28755dd337892587b243c6cbb9d' isolate_dso_base: 10e9f4000, vm_dso_base: 10e9f4000 isolate_instructions: 10ea02800, vm_instructions: 10e9f8000 #00 abs 000000010f36fbfb _kDartIsolateSnapshotInstructions+0x96d3fb <asynchronous suspension> #01 abs 000000010f3ace5f _kDartIsolateSnapshotInstructions+0x9aa65f <asynchronous suspension> :

Hi again @qawsedrftgyhujvfcd, I am sort of surprised, because this no longer works on our ends too. It's like it worked by coincidence and something must've changed in the meantime. How long syncing from/to iCloud worked for you? Are you 100% sure that it was an app update that broke it? We've never tested iCloud sync prior to your reported issue, so if it worked, it's a bit of coincidence. We would be happy to spent some time fixing/implementing this, but given that underlying file picking library that we use: https://github.com/miguelpruivo/flutter_file_picker undergoes heavy changes/refactor, we would probably have to pause it for couple weeks, before they finalize that work. Once they release stable V11 version we could use it as a stable base for our iCloud work. Had we started this work now, our efforts would be wasted as with V11 we would need to start all over again. Added feature request: https://features.s3drive.app/posts/311/fix-sync-from-to-icloud-ios so we don't lose it. Thanks for your report and patience!

Hi, really appreciate you looking into this. The day I opened the bug report here was when on the same day it had worked in the morning and the same day in the afternoon it had started giving me the directory not found error. It may be, but I don’t remember clearly, that I updated the iOS version between morning and afternoon to the latest version. Your app version must’ve been constant because I had just started using your app that day - so was the latest version that day. No worries for waiting for the other library to sort out their rewrite first. Generally I’d be happy to get an ultimate license once I can again synchronize from iCloud. But until then I’m glad you’re looking into this and generally really appreciate what you’re offering with this app!
