I don't know if there is a reason, but the iOS app is not published in the french iphone appstore (at least, maybe others). I had to use an US account to download it (which is not optimal for updates since I will have reconnecte to this account regularly).

Hi, unfortunately that's related to French encryption laws.
We hope to solve that problem in the future, but as it is now, we don't have manpower to deal with the legal compliance properly, so we've had to withdraw to stay out of the trouble.

Thanks. Didn't remember they had this restrictions still in place. At least for importing in France it is only a notification to them. The specific page is https://cyber.gouv.fr/controle-relatif-un-moyen-de-cryptologie and if you need help I may be able to.(edited)
That's good to know that it's actually a notification, not a request for permission.
I think in a next turn we need to finalize work on open-source Rclone: https://github.com/rclone/rclone/issues/7192 to push our V2 cipher improvements to public codebase.
Once this is done, then it means specification is cemented, which in next turn could allow us to do the notification to French authorities.
