Community / support / Offline vs sync?
Avatar
What is the difference between Sync and Offline Files? Is that explained somewhere? I see that Offline files can only be from folders directly under root, while it looks like you can link to folders deeper down with Sync. Sync is on a schedule, are Offline Files?

Hi @taisau, Offline files is very early functionality which aimed to make a snapshot of files/folders at the time of clicking the "Offline" button. Such snapshot was kept in your app's directory folder, so files aren't visible for other apps. Current limitation is that you can't make offline anything other than root: https://s3drive.canny.io/feature-requests/p/mobile-offline-folder-files-support-nested-directories Sync functionality is powerful tools which can sync between selected locations (could be remote/local or mix of them), with scheduling logic, include/exclude, integrity checks etc. Caveat, since sync works on raw filesystem, it doesn't support local paths on iOS. It works fine on desktop and Android. Offline files functionality aimed to be a simple feature that would allow user to store certain files for a future use (e.g. some PDF documents or MP3 songs), so they can use it e.g. during flight. We will provide improvements to that functionality, especially to supplement lack of support for local sync on iOS. I hope that helps to understand the differences. (edited)
