Hi, i want to ask if there is a way to ensure a specific user can only access the specific folder i shared? Currently i didn't find the settings to do that. Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi @tensairiki, If you share a file or a folder, then only that file or a folder (including its sub-folders) will be shared and nothing else. Do you find it work differently?

Ohhh let say Root> fol1 Root>fol2 From what you said users that have access to fol1 can't access fol2 right? If yes, then it's good enough for me. But there is no option for a specific user(email invite) option right? Also is there a way to manage access for a user with read&write and read-only access level? Sorry i just tried to search around but didn't find it, i haven't subscribed to the license yet

Yes, once you share Root>fol1, then users can't access Root>fol2 nor anything above the scope of Root>fol1.
But there is no option for a specific user(email invite) option right?
That's not yet available, however we plan to implement that: https://s3drive.canny.io/feature-requests/p/share-via-e-mail likely in a few months.
Also is there a way to manage access for a user with read&write and read-only access level?
Currently all shares are read-only, so there aren't permissions to manage. Writable shares are certainly something we plan supporting, but given that we would likely already make it support E2E encryption, it makes it pretty big task. We will probably start working on that around 2025 Q4 and 2026 Q1

You can get a feel of how sharing* looks like once you set up external storage S3: https://docs.s3drive.app/setup/providers/#s3-providers and/or anything from this list: https://rclone.org/overview/#optional-features which has: Yes in the LinkSharing column. *limited to 3 files in a free version We don't allow sharing from our Free storage, as this feature is often abused to share copyrighted material which forces us to spend our limited resources on moderation and DMCA complaints.

@Tom i got one more question does the business plan support collaboration on one s3 bucket? Because I have 2 different clients that have different buckets. I planned to give them access to upload images

Using free license, you can have up to 3 buckets / endpoints configured at once. That means that if you want to manage more buckets / endpoint you would either need to remove one of the already configured buckets (to make a space for a new one) or upgrade to Ultimate (or Business) which allows you to have as many as you like. Yes i understand that, but i can't add another user to have access to a specific bucket right? As example i have 3 buckets connected Buc a Buc b Buc c I work with different clients for each bucket and i need to make sure that the client can upload their images inside their respective bucket. Is that possible?

You could technically create a bucket for them and API key limited to that specific bucket only and then instruct them how to set it up in S3Drive: https://docs.s3drive.app/setup/bucket/#android-setup-screen You can create buckets and API keys in S3Drive for storage bought from us: https://s3drive.app/pricing?q=storage or in the admin panel of your S3 provider (they offer bucket creation and per bucket API keys in most cases). Alternatively you could generate a JSON config and instruct them how to import configuration: https://docs.s3drive.app/setup/import/ but import feature is available for "licensed" accounts only, so this might not help that much though. In the future we'll deliver couple functionalities that will improve that, license sharing, user management and account pre-configuration. Then additional features: magic link login, QR code login and workspace sharing (that is giving user write/read access to a specific folder). We're not there yet though. In that case you would be able to instruct user to join your team hassle free, without necessity of S3Drive configuration. (edited)
