Hi. I had made some buckets at https://storage.kapsa.io But I can't access them anymore. Not even delete them. I'm logged in through the S3 app. I haven't used it for a few months admittedly. Has something changed?

Hi, this seem to be DNS network issue on your end. Can you please confirm if you don't have any proxy / VPN enabled that could interfere with DNS request?

Nope. Just standard DNS albeit Quad9. I used that before and it worked. No VPN enabled.

Please make sure all objects are deleted, trash is cleaned up. Please visit account settings and run all cleanups and then try again deleting again, hopefully it works, if not we could check that for you if you send us bucket name and/or e-mail address.

Bucket must be empty in order to be deleted. If it wasn't there maybe some delay before system can notice that.

I don't know how to get to the buckets on desktop. I forgot. To be honest, the s3drive website isn't very intuitive. Just a minor complaint. Cause I really like what you're doing.

I created some buckets a few months ago. But I don't know how to access them from my desktop. Completely forgot. I paid for the 1200 GB plan. And really, I know you are still developing but I love your software.

Thanks for kind words. You need valid API key, once you generate you get the Key ID, Secret and Endpoint. These 3 along with your bucket name you need to provide on the S3 configuration page.

There was a master page before where you create the API key and secret. Where you create the buckets. I don't know how to get there. On PC. Maybe I can't read well, but for me it isn't really obvious.

I'm not stupid. But you really want to describe it better on your website. Cause the example configuration you explain there is for Backblaze. Which is a pity, especially for paying customers beause because you use https://storage.kapsa.io and not Backblaze. I know the setup is the same, but you should advertise this more.

Perhaps something tries to intercept your requests? Message that shows the error shows our app failing to decode the response from our S3 server, but there isn't any issue at the moment and we can clearly create and delete buckets. Can you reach out to our: support@s3drive.app and provide your e-mail address and the bucket name you attempt do delete/create? Thanks

I'll try another route to connect. But I had this both on my phone and desktop using different DNS resolvers. LTE or WiFi and even LAN. No VPN.

In such case you've probably ruled out networking/device issue, we would then need to check it on your account level.

Ok. Please do. And really. If this is due my mistake, I'm really sorry. Let me check some logs as well. It does look like a connection issue. But I've tried both LTE, 5G , and home network. No adblockers enabled. No DNS holes like Pi-hole or Adguard. Just plain open internet. (edited)

It's not DNS related. I tried on my PC and Android phone using Google's DNS resolver 8.8.8.8. Used automatic as well. To no avail.

No worries. But I need the bucket solution a bit urgent as I'm moving and taking my local NAS and servers offline and need a way to backup and sync files. (edited)

Also I don't really care if I lose the buckets. What is in there is redundant. So if you need to reset my account and delete all. It's iinconvenient, but not the end of the world. Would only lose a few files.

Sure, there isn’t any hard limit, but obviously faster your connection speed and bigger files (instead of plenty tiny ones) will affect the overall speed.

Yes, you could store it all in S3Drive. You would need to create an API key on the Accounts page. Ideally create a separate dedicated bucket for your cam system and create an API key restricted to that bucket only. <-- all available on the account page once you choose Buckets/API keys.

It's pretty likely that S3Drive mount would work fine with ZoneMinder, but you would either need to try it yourself or ask ZoneMinder (if they support Rclone mount, since that's what we use). Both S3Drive and s3fs exposes filesystems which ZoneMinder requires, however the main difference is that s3fs is POSIX compliant at the cost of being slower. There is a big chance that ZoneMinder doesn't require POSIX compliance or doesn't rely on exact file mod times. In your case you would need to set it up as S3FS mount: https://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/latest/userguide/options/options_storage.html#options-storage but internally S3Drive would serve it. Please note that you don't need to set up /etc/passwd-s3fs and fstab. If you're stuck or need further help on this, please create a support ticket, so we can keep track of all that. (edited)

Thank you for the info, I tried Wasabi free trial to see if I could get this going and while it did work, something was going very wrong with the video recording.

Ultimately I spent like 10 hours trying to get what I wanted and decided it was not worth continuing to try to force it, I just paid the $40 (AUD) to let TPLink manage the camera remote storage for a year (edited)

Not an expert, but likely the issue was on the Zoneminder configuration instead of S3 / Wasabi which is rather reliable. Perhaps it didn't like latency from the Oceania though 😄 (edited)
